Tea Tasting

This is a refined and specialised skill and is an intrinsic part of auctioning. The subtle and varied nuances of every invoice of tea is first tasted, judged and valued by tea tasters before offering at auctions. His description of the liquor is based on taste, sight, touch and smell. A taster may deal with several hundred tea samples in a day. In his evaluation, he brings his knowledge and experience of a particular estate to make his conclusions.

Tea Broking

We operate successfully maintaining quiet links to government agencies, producers, buyers and associated groups. Data promulgation is only one important tea-broker function. Brokers grade tea. Generally, brokers operate under registration from Tea Boards. Our team has abundance of experience, the expertise in marketing and the knowledgeable art of Tea tasting, valuing a good product and has earned the respect of the Tea Broking community, preserving the ethics of the trade and guaranteeing customer satisfaction. Around one Tenth of all tea auctioned in Siliguri is handled by GPTPL. Our company conducts auctions at Kolkata, Guwahati, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Conoor, Mumbai and Delhi.

Tea Auction

Tea auctions have a key role for primary marketing of tea in India. With time e-Auction system is being used by all the six Auction Centres like Kolkata, Siliguri, Guwahati, Cochin, Coimbatore, Jalpaiguri and Coonoor. Tea Auction Centers handles more than 500 million kilograms of tea annually. It integrates the process starting from creation of invoices till the delivery of tea from the warehouses and it is supervised by the Tea-Board of India. There are 16 authourised / licensed Public Tea Auctioneers approved by the Tea Board of India.

Tea Auction Centres

There are 13 Tea Auction centre in the world. Seven of them are in India. Namely Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Kolkata, Cochin, Coimbatore and Coonoor. For any auction centre there will be a set of data like in Siliguri Tea Auction centre  roughly over 350 Seller Members, 400 Buyer Members, 9 Broker Members and a total area of 5,38,000 square feet registered warehouse is available. These data are roughly based on the year 2010.

Consultancy

Development of individual proprietary factory owners who may not always find it convenient or possible to obtain their working capital requirements and on occasions even the medium term funding needed for development of their factories. The brokers’ role has provided an important line of support to bridge this gap, and the banks themselves at times find it more stable to deal with the broking company.

Project

There are project on the anvil. Our commitments to projects means we are working seven days a week to provide the best possible outcomes we can for the people we work with. There were some cups of tea involved.... Quite a few, really.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The Group is undergoing a variety of reforms to prepare for the roles it will be called upon to fulfil over the coming century. Corporate social responsibility is at the heart of these efforts. We try to volunteer with locally based organisations working with tea workers and their development. We also assist in positive sustainable change to the lives of the people and the community. It is our concept whereby our company integrate social and environmental concerns in our business operations and interactions with our employees, stake holders and others. CSR is one of our strength as it helps us to reach directly to the people. Blood Donation Camps are regularly organised by us.
